Date Of Death: February 26, 2013

Richard L. Larsh, 89, formerly of Jay County, passed peacefully on February 26, 2013. Born in Lebanon, Indiana, Richard graduated from Crawfordsville High School. In 1948 he received the Distinguished Student award when he graduated from Purdue University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. During WWII, he served in the European and Pacific theaters.
Richard enjoyed music! He played the alto saxophone in several dance bands during his school years. It was during a country club performance in Lafayette that he met his future wife, Mary Lee. He continued playing during the Army, including an Okinawa Serviceman’s performance after the war was won.
Richard’s versatile career included positions as an engineer with RCA and P.R. Mallory; a stock broker with Payne, Webber, Jackson, and Curtis; and a farmer in Pennville, Indiana. Richard retired in 1999 and in 2010 moved to Anderson, Indiana, to be closer to his family.
He was a member of Lions Club International. His interests included golfing, duplicate contract bridge, croquet, horseshoes and sports. He taught Sunday School at Gilead Church in Balbec, Indiana, and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland, Indiana.
On the date of his 69th wedding anniversary with Mary Lee (Hoover) Larsh, he went to be with the Lord. Richard leaves his widow; three children, Sandy (Steve) Roesener, Randi (Tony) Benner, and Scott Larsh; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; his brother, Robert K. Larsh; his aunt, Berta Mae (Swails) White; and nieces and nephews.
To honor Richard’s wishes there will not be a public service. A private service for the family will be held at a later date. His family invites you to sign the online guest book and share a memory at http://www.indianafuneralcare.com
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a memorial donation to either Salvation Army at https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org/ or Fellowship Baptist Church, Portland, Indiana, 47371.

    Dear Sandy and Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you upon the loss of your Dad. It sounds like he was an amazing man and he left a wonderful legacy in all of his family. It is so hard to see our parents pass on – no one loves us like our parents do. But we have the great hope that we will be re-united one day in heaven! And that one single fact eases the pain of letting them go.

Eternal Lord God, you hold all souls in life: Give to your whole Church in paradise and on earth your light and your peace; and grant that we, following the good examples of those who have served you here and are now at rest, may at the last enter with them into your unending joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (from The Book of Common Prayer)

    In Christ’s Love,
    Merryl and Brad
